Dee Ross Christensen, 96, died due to age-related causes on March 31, 2024 at a local nursing home. He was born August 4, 1927, in Hyrum, Utah, the son of Jame and Laura Christensen. At age 17 Dee enlisted in the United States Naval Service on Dec. 6th, 1944, and served until honorably discharged July 25, 1946. He graduated from South Cache High School, and in the fall of 1947 was called to the Australian Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints until November 24, 1949.
He was married to the late Beverlee Leishman Miller on Sept. 14, 1950, in the Logan Temple. Surviving children include RuthAnn (Earl), Kim Christensen, Kristi (Olsen), Tanya (Heywood), and Lauralee (Hugie). 23 Grandchildren, 66 Great-grandchildren, and 7 Great-great grandchildren.
Dee attended Utah State University and completed the requirements for the B.S. degree in Industrial Technology, a Secondary Teacher certificate, and an M.S. degree in Industrial and Technical Education. Teaching industrial and technical education became his primary full-time employment at Logan Jr. High School, Logan Sr. High School, and area Vocational and University Trade School. During this time, he also had a contract with Anderson Lumber in which he would spend many evenings drawing the architectural plans for homes being built for their customers. Dee spent his Summers working constructions. During the last 13 years of employment, he was Logan City Schools Director of Buildings and Grounds and Property Services Director. Dee was known for his impeccable work and attention to detail and perfection. He built the family home in Logan where the family was raised.
He was always hard at work whether it be building or gardening. Each summer a large garden would be planted and maintained with his farming skills from his youth. He grew up on a Farm in Hyrum as the youngest of six children and found himself running the farm at a young age as his older siblings had left home and his father had health problems. He would do the work of three men during the days to tend their dairy herd and their 40 acres of crops which were half in sugar beets and half in hay, and crops to feed the animals.
Dees favorite pastime was fishing and enjoyed twice a year getting away on family vacations to fish. His favorite subject to talk about was the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After his retirement, Dee and Beverlee served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints together in the The Hartford Connecticut Mission.
Internment will be in the Hyrum City Cemetery. The family will have a Graveside Service at a later date.
The family appreciates the love and care given to Dee at the Layton Abbington Senior Living Center and the Inspiration Hospice and Home Health.
