Dee Robert Thurgood

Dee Thurgood passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of February 28, 2015 surrounded by his wife of 48 years and his children.  He lived his life in a manner that the fear of death never entered into his heart.  He crossed the finish line of life welcomed by his Mom, Dad and his dogs, which he loved more than most people.  
Dee was born September 19, 1940 in Murray, Utah to Robert Melvin and Olive Clark Thurgood. He was the youngest and only boy of four children.  Dee graduated from West High School.  Shortly after graduation he left to serve his country with the United States Navy where he served as a Radioman onboard an Aircraft Carrier and a Submarine.   After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Dee worked at Hill Air Force Base for over 33 years.
Dee married his sweetheart Blanche Christensen on June 17, 1966.  They were sealed on June 09, 1967 in the Salt Lake Temple.  They have four children Dennis Ludlow (Heather), Troy (Lita), Michael (Shawnna) Thurgood, and Deena (Tim) Thornton.
During the last week of Dee's life he was comforted and surrounded by many people that loved and cherished him including his grandchildren, siblings, daughter and son in law and many family friends.  The family would also like to thank Dr. Clarke A. Hilbig who cared for Dee for 11 years, Dr. David Anisman, and the supportive and caring staff of the Lakeview Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 04, 2015 at the Woods Cross 5th Ward, 2064 S. 800 W.  Friends and family may visit on Tuesday, between 6-8 pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Bountiful, Utah or Wednesday prior to the service from 9:45 to 10:45 am at the Church.  Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
