Della Howard Winegar, age 91, passed away January 31, 2013 in Bountiful, Utah incident to age. She was born June 30, 1921 in Salt Lake City, the daughter of David Edward and Lillian Hatch Howard. She was raised in Woods Cross, Utah.
Della graduated from Davis High School in 1939 and attended LDS Business College.
She worked as a nanny for O. C. Tanner’s children in the San Francisco area until the attack on Pearl Harbor. She then came home to Woods Cross and worked at the Ogden Arsenal where she assembled missiles in the TNT Powder Room.
On May 19, 1943 Della married Hyrum Wesley Winegar in the Salt Lake Temple. They settled in Woods Cross where they were blessed with four children: Lanna, Bert, Tamra and David. The family moved to Bountiful in 1959. For the past 13 years. Della has made her home at Heritage Place in Bountiful.
Della was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a faithful visiting teacher, a Cub Scout den mother, primary teacher, accompanist in the Relief Society and many other church callings. She was also an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Camp Eutaw.
Della had a life-long passion for the piano. She took lessons throughout her life and played for enjoyment. She also loved gardening and always had a beautiful rose and vegetable garden.
Della is survived by her children, Lanna Stanbridge, Ogden, UT; Bert (Judy) Winegar, Centerville, UT, now serving a mission in Carlsbad, CA; Tamra Wood (Art), Sandy, UT; and David Winegar, Salt Lake City, UT; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sisters, Sarah Cheney, Kaysville, Utah and Ila Anderson, Brigham City, UT. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, D. Hatch Howard and one great grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Bountiful 25th Ward located at 1500 South 600 East, Bountiful, UT. Friends may call Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main Bountiful, UT and Tuesday morning from 9:45 to 10:45 am at the church prior to the service at 11:00 am. Interment at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
