Dennis Russell West

April 5, 1947 — September 23, 2018

Dennis Russell West, age 71, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018 after a valiant struggle with Pulmonary Hypertension and Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.  He was born April 5, 1947 to John (Jack) and Edra West.
After graduating from Hillcrest High School, he served in the Southern Far East Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, spending most of his time in Taiwan.  He served his country as a member of the Army Reserves.  He received his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Utah and always cheered for the Utes!  Go Utes!  His career led him to work with Northwest Pipeline Company and the Williams Company.  He later earned a certificate in coding and worked for Intermountain Healthcare.  Dennis loved sports.  He played little league baseball and participated on church basketball and company softball teams.  He was an avid racquetball player.  But his true passion throughout most of his life was golf, even achieving an enviable hole in one!  He had a deep faith in his Heavenly Father and the Gospel of Jesus Christ and shared his testimony through his example and service to others.
He is survived by his loving wife Marian, his daughter Kristin (Brandon), sons John Michael and Patrick, eight grandchildren, Emylie, Megan, Xander, Jaidan, Josh, Addison, Annabelle, and Melody, sisters Susan (Kirk) and Karen (Joe), and many caring nieces, nephews and cousins.  Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jackie and Thomas.
A viewing will be held at Russon Mortuary, 295 N Main, Bountiful, on Friday, September 28th from 6:00-8:00 PM.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 29th at the Eagleridge Ward building, 351 Lofty Lane, North Salt Lake, with a viewing prior from 9:45-10:45 AM.  Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
The family would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to Dr. Gregory Elliot and team at the Schmidt Chest Clinic, as well as Dr. Xylina Gregg and team at the Utah Cancer Specialists Center for their years of exceptional care and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Patient Advocate Foundation at www.patientadvocate.org.
