Dennis Don Warner

December 3, 1953 — December 30, 2024

West Bountiful, UT

Our beloved husband and father, Dennis Warner, was called home on December 30, 2024, with his family at his side. In his last months of life, Dennis suffered from many illnesses including Parkinsons, Lewy Body Dementia, Heart Failure and Lymphoma.

Dennis was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 3, 1953, to Don Owen Warner and Darlene Robins. He was raised in Bountiful along with his brothers and sisters. His happy place was visiting his Great-grandma Wade and Grandma Warner, who lived in Fillmore. He loved his grandmas dearly and had many happy memories of helping them around the farm and of them doting on him as a child.

Dennis graduated from Viewmont High School in 1972. He worked for Bountiful Glass and Bennet’s Paint & Glass in Salt Lake City. In the summer of 1978, while dragging State Street, he heard his future wife's voice on the CB Radio. He called out to her, ‘Hey Swamp Witch, this is Sgt. Pepper, come on back, over.’ That night was the beginning of their courtship. Dennis married Janet Stone in the Salt Lake Temple on August 24, 1979.

Dennis and Janet loved to travel and were able to take a few trips to Hawaii, Hong Kong, China, and Japan early in their marriage. They were then blessed with two sons, Dustin Dennis and Brody Lorin. They settled in West Bountiful in 1992 and raised their sons there. Their home was filled with love, laughter, joy, and repeated holes in the wall whenever the wrestling matches got a little too rambunctious in the narrow hallway. Dennis taught his sons the value of hard work, integrity, giving service to others and the importance of eternal families.

Dennis loved being in the great outdoors camping, fishing, hunting, and any activity that would let him enjoy the cool mountain air and smell the pine trees. He loved camping with his sons and helping them earn merit badges for their Eagle Scout Awards. Family time was a priority for Dennis. He loved the fun trips to Disneyland, the many cruises taken, the church history tour, the tradition of providing Christmas for other families and secretly delivering it with his sons help and his wife driving the getaway car, and any activity that drew his family closer and strengthened their love for each other.

He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many callings including serving in the Sunday School, Elders Quorum, Scouting program, and Ward Librarian, but his favorite calling was being a Primary Teacher. He loved teaching and serving the children. He always said there was no better calling than spending time with the children and feeling their pure spirits. He had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, a deep love for his Savior, and lived a life full of service.

Dennis was a truck driver for 38 years. He drove for Bailey’s Moving & Storage and had the opportunity to work with and train both his sons in the moving industry. He then drove for Reliance Steel and Aluminum and was able to retire in 2016. After retiring, he took a part time job driving three nights a week to Idaho to keep himself busy. He loved driving in the cool, quiet early morning hours with his window down and enjoyed the peace and beauty of his surroundings. In 2018, he was required to quit driving due to his medical diagnosis.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Janet, his son’s, Dustin and Brody (Melissa); his siblings, Sue Olsen, Doug (Char) Warner, Kevin (Kim) Warner, Elliott (Susan) Warner, Emily (Bruce) Barlow, Laurel Palmer, and Dwight Warner. He is preceded in death by his parents Don (Ellen) Warner and Darlene (Don) Wangsgard, his in-law's Lorin & Maurine Stone, and his brother-in-law's Rick Olsen, Gaylen Palmer, and Mark Mann.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Kristy, Marcos, Dr. Jeff McNally, and the other caregivers from Intermountain Home Hospice, who so lovingly cared for Dennis during the final months of his life.

Dennis, we love and miss you dearly. We know you and Grandpa Stone are swapping trucker stories again and having a blast fishing. Until we meet again, you will be forever in our hearts.
