DeRay George Crockett

November 12, 1924 — May 19, 2015

DeRay George Crockett was born November 12, 1924 in Preston, Idaho and passed away on May 19, 2015 in Bountiful, Utah at the age of 90.
He grew up in Preston where he was the Franklin County marble champion and a Preston High School basketball and tennis star.
After high school, he served two years of active duty as an MP in the US Army during World War II. His life's work was as a sheet metal mechanic at Hill Air Force Base where the B-52 was his favorite airplane.
He married Cleo Rasmussen on January 4, 1949 in the Logan LDS Temple. They had four children. He served faithfully in many callings in the Church, always volunteering whenever needed.
After his retirement, DeRay and Cleo loved serving in the cafeterias of the Salt Lake and Bountiful Temples, which they did for a total of eight years.
DeRay was preceded in his death by his son, Kim, and sister,  Joyce (Vern) Nielsen. He is survived by Cleo, his wife of sixty-six years, son, Gary (Leslie), daughter, Valerie (David) Mudrow, and son, Tony (Wendy), six grand children and eight great grand
children.
At his 90th birthday celebration he encouraged his family, “Be careful and not die before me, because I don't like funerals!”
A viewing for DeRay will be held from 9:00 a.m to 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 in the Bountiful 20th Ward Chapel at 1400 South and 100 East. The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Whitney Cemetery in Whitney, Idaho.
