On February 9, 2018, Derwin Lynn Lewis returned to his heavenly home. He was born April 26, 1928 in Ogden, Utah. The ninth of ten children to Francis and Frances Serena Thompson Lewis. Life was good to him, and was always very happy. "He never had a bad day in his life." He married Valera Carla (Bonnie) Larsen on February 2, 1951. They had four children: Michael Lynn, (Julie) Lewis, Sharon, (Brent) Christensen, Diane (Lynn) Manning, and Annette (Jim) Spainhower. They enjoyed raising their children, traveling and working in their Wedding business. In 1984, after 33 years of marriage, Bonnie died suddenly.
On April 19, 1986 he married Minnie Jane Welch Egan, who had 9 children: David (Karen), Ronald (Peggy), Mark (Marianne), Tim (Lora), Sterling (Stacy), Michael (Virginia), Maria Shumway (Deceased), Spencer( Melinda) Egan and Camille (Davin) Hansen. Minnie passed away July 27, 2015. Together they had 58 grandchildren and 60 great grandchildren.
He served two years in the army in the Korean Conflict. He was always active in the LDS church and held several different callings. He served 5 missions and served 13 years in the Bountiful Temple. He enjoyed telling stories of his life to his posterity and others. His favorite pastime was working in his yard. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ, people and his family. He died on February 9, 2018 at the age of 89.
Funeral services and viewing will be held at the Meadow Heights Ward, 4310 So. 3200 West, West Valley, UT. Friends and family may visit Friday, February 16, 2018 11:30 a.m.- 12:45 p.m. Funeral services to follow at 1:00 p.m. Internment will be at the Valley View Memorial Park.
