Dewey Olson

Biography

Beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend, age 64, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2013, after a difficult and courageous battle with brain cancer. Born January 30, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Dewey Hilmer Olson and Jennie Louise Dolmer Olson, the youngest of five children.
Howard graduated from Olympus High School and later received his BS and MS degrees in Manufacturing Engineering from Brigham Young University. He served a 2 ½ year mission in Sweden for the LDS Church. Howard was sealed to his sweetheart JoAnn Briggs in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 8, 1971. They were blessed with five children: Cheri Ann Horsley (Stephen), Kara Jennie Batley (Joshua), David Howard Olson (Sarah), Kimberly Ann Sonico (Brian), and Steven Kimball Olson.
Howard had a strong testimony and love for the gospel and was a faithful member of the LDS Church his entire life. He loved serving his fellow man in whatever capacity was asked of him. Some of his favorites included: multiple Bishoprics, Gospel Doctrine instructor, Stake Clerk, and High Councilor. Howard was a hard worker and became owner of Todd Machinery Inc. which he loved and successfully helped grow to the company it is today.
Howard will be remembered for his unconditional love, warm smiles, firm handshakes, tight hugs, and kindness to others. He loved his family, especially his 12 grandchildren.
He is survived by his sweet wife, JoAnn, their five children, and his older brother, Vernon Olson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jackie, sister Jennie Lee, sister Marilyn, and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2013 at the Moss Hill Ward, 455 South 1200 East, Bountiful. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Friday morning 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West.

A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Friday morning 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West.
