Dian Johnson Ferrin, 87, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2024 at her daughter’s home in Collinston, Utah.
She was born September 15, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah to parents: William Albert Johnson and Afton Elizabeth Egbert.
She graduated from Davis High School and later married Calvin Ferrin on September 19, 1958, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They raised their family on Compton Bench in Farmington. She was a world-class homemaker with huge gardens, a large fruit orchard, farm animals, baking endless homemade breads and desserts, and crocheting afghans. She held many positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in the Bountiful Temple for 14 years.
Dian was extremely talented in many areas and just a few of her accomplishments include Queen over Farmington Fiesta Days, World Champion Dutch Oven Cook, BSA District Award of Merit and Silver Beaver Spouse Award, and Farmington’s Mother of the Year. Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother and grandmother. She crocheted an afghan for all 42 grandchildren as a constant reminder of her love for them. She knew that happiness in family life is most likely achieved when founded on the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. She loved the Savior and was an example of his attributes always.
Dian is survived by her eight children: Gayle (Frankie) Moore, Ross (Colleen) Ferrin, Garth (Brenda) Ferrin, Reed (Elizabeth) Ferrin, Amber (Rodney) Sonzini, Rick (Cecelia) Ferrin, Amy (Brad) Heaton, Alisa (Mike) Gilbert, sister Erla Pehrson, sister-in-law DeeAnn Johnson, 42 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Gary, and brother Bill Johnson.
