On November 6, Diane Christensen Anderson, 80, departed peacefully at her home in Farmington, Utah, after her quick battle against pancreatic cancer. Diane was born on August 22, 1944, to Waldo (Chris) H. and Bessie L. Christensen in Long Beach, California. Diane spent her youth ballroom dancing, performing in choirs, school productions and, of course, spending any free time at the beach. A young Diane fell in love with her sweetheart, Grant E. Anderson and the two were married on November 9, 1962, in the Los Angeles Temple. Diane and Grant spent 61 years of marriage together, falling deeper in love as the years continued. Together, they were a force for good, truly grateful for the opportunity to serve as missionaries at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building for almost 10 years.
The two also enjoyed spending their time together hiking, snowshoeing, and exploring the local mountains and lakes. They shared this passion of nature with family and friends, but their greatest joy was adventuring with their grandchildren, creating a lifetime of memories.
Diane had a deep connection with the great outdoors. Because of this, the time she spent adventuring in the mountains, and her tough & sassy attitude, she rightfully gained the nickname “Mtn Mama”. A highlight of her later years was a trip to South Africa where she & Grant went on safari and were able to get up close to the lions, giraffes, and elephants (oh my!).
Diane is preceded in death by her sweetheart and best friend Grant, who lost his battle with cancer September 18, 2023. She is survived by her children, Dawn Anderson, Grant Christian Anderson (Sacha), and Brooke Anderson Nichols (Joel); and 9 grandchildren, Chloe, Aaron (AJ), Mazie, Ella, Sadie, Kate, Ian, Luke, and Simon; and sweet rescue pup, Shadow.
Our beautiful mom, grandma (MorMor), sister and friend will so greatly be missed.
An evening reception with be held November 15, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Russon Mortuary, 1941 North Main Street, Farmington. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at a Graveside Service, November 16, 2024, at noon at the Benjamin Cemetery, 9000 South 3200 West, Benjamin, Utah.
Everything has a special kind of longevity; the forever kind.
So when the night falls tremulous
When the last lamp burns low
And one of us or both of us
The long, lone road must go
Look with your dear sweet eyes in mine
Give me a handshake true
Whatever fate our souls await
Let me be there with you.
