Dixie Lee Maddux passed away peacefully Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Dixie was born August 4th, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ernest and Genevieve (Pearson) Ferguson. Dixie was certified as a medical assistant in 1985 and served various callings for the LDS church. Our heavenly father issues many callings to his children. One of the most important callings issued is that of wife, mother, and grandmother, all to which Dixie was a loving and unique soul. Dixie married Craig Brewer Maddux May 30, 1959 and together they raised 4 children, Jeff, Jeannie, John, and Jamie. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, 5 brothers and 3 sisters and is survived by her husband, children and their spouses, 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters.
Dixie was an incredible person, loved by everyone that knew her. She was smart, witty, funny, and had a personality that filled the room. Dixie could start a conversation with anyone and would love to make people laugh and she would rarely, if ever, let a baby or child pass her by.
It is truly sad to see Dixie go before any of us were ready to say goodbye, but the goal in life is not to live forever, it is to create something that will, and she has certainly done that. She taught us how to love life and to love one-another, and that is the greatest gift she has ever given.
