Don Clifford Maughan

October 14, 1949 — February 28, 2021

Don quietly passed away at home following a long battle with Parkinson related illnesses at the age of 71.  He was as sharp as ever mentally but was exhausted from the physical pain he had endured for years.

Don was born in Salt Lake City but spent most of his formative years in California including Covina, West Covina, and Sacramento.  He served a fulltime mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Melbourne, Australia.  Upon returning from his mission, he married his sweetheart Connie for time and all eternity in the Oakland, California Temple on June 18, 1971.  Don attended Brigham Young University with Connie and was an avid BYU sports fan until he died.  He left BYU prior to graduating to pursue a career in sales and raise a family.  Don and Connie were blessed with four children Clifford, Nicole, David, and Elizabeth.  After working in sales for many years, Don decided to return to school and completed his degree in Psychology at Weber State University.  After then attending Salt Lake Community College and receiving a degree as a Paralegal, he began to work in the legal field.  Don worked in law for over 20 years including most of that time at Clyde Snow.  Above all else, he loved his wife of 49 years, Connie, his 4 kids, his 11 grandkids, and his church.  From the time Don was on the high school track team, he loved Corvettes.  He always dreamed of owning a Corvette and finally bought one later in life.  His hobbies included:  working on his ‘Vette, woodworking, yardwork, basketball, high jumping, and reading.  Don has been an example of love, faith, consistency, and service to so many friends, neighbors, and family.  He relished the opportunity to serve in his church as a Gospel Doctrine Instructor, Bishopric Counselor, Young Men’s President, and Sunday School Teacher.

A viewing will be held in his honor at Russon Brothers Mortuary on Friday March 5, 2021 from 6 pm – 8 pm 1941 North Main, Farmington, UT 84025.  A funeral will be held at 11 am on Saturday March 6, 2021 at the Kaysville East Stake Center 201 S 600 E Kaysville, UT 84037.  In person attendance will be limited to invite only for the funeral but the services will be streamed online at http://mywebcast.churchofjesuschrist.org/Events/kaysvilleutaheaststake  Don will be buried in the Kaysville Cemetery next to his parents and beloved daughter Nicole.
