Don E. Peay

April 20, 1941 — June 28, 2017

I am a child of God. And he has sent me here, has given me an earthly home with parents kind and dear.

I was born in Pleasant Grove, Utah the fourth child of Golden B. and Estella Johnson Peay. I moved to Salt Lake in 1952 where I attended Jackson Elementary, Jackson Junior High, and West High School. In 1960, I joined the Utah National Guard 19th Special Forces where I served for 26 years.

Between 1961 and 1963 I served an LDS mission to the North East British Mission. Upon returning home, Sharron Ferrell and I were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. We have three daughters, two sons-in-law and five grandchildren: Jackie (Rod), Taylor, and Carli Sexton of West Bountiful; Natalie Peay of North Salt Lake; Paige (Carl), Ike, Cooper, and Creed Gardiner of Draper.

I enjoyed working as an insurance agent for New York Life for 46 years. I had many meaningful callings in the Farmington 1st Ward and Farmington Utah Stake. For the past five years, I served as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Temple, a calling I loved.

In 1996, Sharron and I bought a second residence in St. George Utah, and we spent what time we had there with friends and family.

I loved spending time in the great outdoors. I also loved working in the yard at our Farmington house where we lived for 50 years. Family Lagoon days, parties and barbecues were some of my favorite days. I loved riding trails on my six Arabian and three Missouri fox trotter horses. Nothing made me happier than spending time hunting in American Fork Canyon with my family or vacationing and fishing at Strawberry Reservoir or Alaska with my friends. I also loved golf, and over the years I played at more than 100 different golf courses.

I am survived by my brothers Marvin (Joan) Peay of Apple Valley, Utah; Jaren (Bev) Peay of Twin Falls, Idaho; Rodger (Susan) Peay of Cedar City, Utah.

I want to thank my team of hematology/oncology caretakers, Dr. Scott Samuelson, Bruce Bolonesi, and staff. I am especially grateful for the loving care and concern of my wife Sharron. Thank you Sharron.
