Don W. England

March 2, 1928 — July 17, 2015

On July 17, 2015 Don W. England passed away to join his beloved wife of 63 years, who herself had passed away only 12 days before.  They were not separated in life–neither could they be in death.  Their love was eternal.

Don was born March 2, 1928 in Plain City, Utah to William LaVell and Violet Hart England.  He was the seventh of eight children, four boys and four girls.   He grew up on the family farm during the depression, where he learned hard work.  He recalled that they always had enough to eat, but very little money.  He graduated from Weber High School in 1946 and from 1948 to 1950 served in the California Mission for the LDS Church under President Oscar W. McConkie.  He was one of the last of the missionaries to serve without “purse or scrip”.   After returning from his mission, he married his sweetheart, LouJane Oleson in the Salt Lake Temple on August 25, 1952. Soon after they made their home in Centerville, Utah, where they remained for 63 years.  Here they raised their children, Brent, Laurel and Nancy, and enjoyed the friendship of many well-loved neighbors.

Don attended Weber State College and later the University of Utah.  He became an accountant and worked for Hercules.  He later worked for the State of Utah for 29 years until his retirement in 1994.

When the Bountiful Temple opened, Don and LouJane began serving what they thought would be two-year term of service, but they extended their service for 17 years. Don served the Lord faithfully in many callings throughout his life. He was a warm, kind, generous and patient soul.  He impressed others with his great self-discipline.   He expressed that as a child and teen he had never wanted to do anything that was wrong, but always tried to do right. All who knew him can testify that he was successful.   There was a smile on his face and a helping hand for everyone. Friends and neighbors enjoyed receiving the tomatoes and produce from his garden.

Don is survived by son, Brent England, daughters Laurel England and Nancy (Trinidad) Gonzales; grandchildren Dustin England (Adrianna), Trevelle E. Ryan (James), Gage Gonzales and Gabrielle Gonzales; great grandchildren Aiden and Ryker Ryan, Clarissa England; and one sister, Ruth England Summers (Ray).  He was preceded in death by his dear wife LouJane Oleson England, his parents, William LaVell and Violet Hart England, brothers Cloyd, Harold and Kenneth and sisters Fern, Neta and Mabel.

A viewing will be held Monday, July 27 at 9:45 a.m. in the LDS Centerville 11th Ward , at 270 North 300 East, Centerville, followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be at the Centerville Cemetery.  Sincere thanks to the kind and loving care given by the staff of Heritage Place and Envision Hospice.
