Don Warner

Biography

Welcoming Don Vance Warner, 78, to his heavenly home are his son, Bradford James Warner, his parents Don T. and Edna Kerr Warner, and his brother Jan. Don died July 4, 2014 of a brain tumor.
Don was born in Salt Lake City on Jan. 27, 1936. From childhood, Don could not finish a sentence without laughing. His laughter stimulated affection from his friends at East High School where he graduated in 1955, his buddies that served with him in the Navy reserves from 1955 to 1957, and his coworkers at Rocky Mountain Bank Note. (The company was later sold to Harland-Clarke.) Don was a magician with machines, especially when they broke down. He could fix them all. Don worked for the companies for about 35 years.
As for pastimes, Don found joy in gardening, golf, swing dancing and listening to jazz.
Don met his wife Barbara Parker when they both worked in the coffee shop at Hotel Utah in Salt Lake City. She introduced herself to Don by throwing a glass of water in his face. He immediately picked her up and threatened to throw her into a fishpond. Both tactics had the desired results, and they were married on Dec. 3, 1957, in Elko, Nevada. They’ve been married for 54 years.
The couple’s surviving children are Gregory (Bonnie) Warner, West Bountiful; Shellie (James) Parsons, Moscow, Idaho; and Alisa (Todd) George, Syracuse. Don and Barbara have eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
There will be a viewing for Don at Russon Brothers Mortuary in Bountiful from 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 10. The mortuary is located at 295 North Main. His funeral will be on Friday, July 11 at the LDS Bountiful 10th Ward located at 1145 North 200 East at 11 a.m. A viewing will be held 45 minutes before the services.
