Dona L. Christensen

March 1, 1930 — December 22, 2020

We are sad to announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend Dona Lee Christensen on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at her home in North Salt Lake due to age.

Dona was born in Copperton, Utah to William (Bill) and Maurine Cook on March 1, 1930. She was the oldest of two children (Kaylou Wheeler) and had many fond memories of her youth. She graduated from Bingham High School in 1948 and married Richard Butterfield from (1949-1979), bearing five children from this union. She later married Edwin (Ted) D Christensen in 1981 and moved to his home in Plain City. While she was a city girl at heart, she took to farm life like a champ. After Ted passed away, she moved to North Salt Lake to be close to her children and grandchildren. Dona was a talented artist, wining many blue ribbons at the State Fair for her paintings and other craft work. Her greatest talent of all was loving fiercely and giving of herself and all she had to those around her.

Dona is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Vicky Butterfield and granddaughter Kimberly. Dona is survived by Paula (Keith) Rushton, Sherry (Richard) Griffiths, Bart Butterfield, Tina (David) Ainscough, six grandchildren (Kamie, Crystal, Ryan, Monty, Chris, and Blake), and six great-grandchildren (Carson, McKinley, Alyssa, Skyler, Hunter, and Briella).

Per Dona’s request, no funeral or gravesite services will be held. “When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.”
