Dona Rae Brown

June 15, 1939 — July 24, 2018

Our dear sister, aunt and friend, Dona Rae Larsen Brown, graduated from this life July 24, 2018.  Dona was born June 15, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Dallon Albert Larsen and Lillian Lovina Gross Larsen.  She married Elbert Earl Brown October 25, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple.  They celebrated 54 years together until Elbert was called home on July 3, 2015.  Now they are reunited to continue their courtship.  They traveled extensively throughout the world meeting new friends and visiting beautiful places.

After graduating from South High School, Dona continued her education and received her Licensed Practical Nursing certificate. For 47 years Dona excelled serving hospital patients and assisting new born babies in the hospital nursery.

Raising prize African violets and spoiling cats were part of Dona’s legacy.  Cooking and sewing were her joy.  Tutoring reading at the elementary school was a weekly activity for her.  Listening to classical music, especially live string music played by her nieces and nephews delighted Dona.  Her photography skills allowed her to capture her family’s activities that would have been lost without her camera.  She also photographed picturesque nature scenes.

Dona was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was kind and loving to all those around her.

Dona is survived by her sister, Jean Larsen Jensen, and Ina Larsen Madsen (Tennys), and brother Keith Dallon Larsen (Esther), nieces Grace Larsen, Corine Hart (Brody), Melodie Gardner (Josh), nephews Dairus Jensen (Harmony), Gary Jensen (Lynne), Terry Jensen (Valerie) and numerous great nieces and nephews which she considered her grandchildren.

A funeral will be held Saturday, July 28 at 2:00 PM at Rosecrest 1st Ward, 3101 S. 2300 E., Salt Lake City, Utah.  A viewing will be held 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. prior to the funeral.   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dona’s name to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Aid or any worthy charity.
