Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on December 22, 2014 due to a long illness. Don was born October 19, 1929 in Bellingham, Washington and married Kathryn LaMarr on March 7, 1952 later solomnized in the Swiss Temple. Proceeded in death by his daughter Linda Beckstead. He is survived by his wife Kathryn, children: Gary (Lisa), Cindy Forsgren (Rob), David, Donald (Mardi), 17 grandchildren, and 4 great-grand-children.
Shortly after high school he joined the US Army and was involved in the first occupation of Japan in 1945. He later served in the US Air Force where he retired as a Lt. Colonel after 27 years of service. After retirement he moved to Bountiful Utah, where he was employeed as a supervisor at the SLC Airport. He then changed jobs and served as a manager for Salt Lake City Transportation.
Don was an aviation historian. He built many accurate model airplane replicas, and he published many articles and photographs. Don loved sports, and participated competitively in many baseball, softball, bowling, football and ping pong leagues and tournaments. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, at the LDS Church located at 965 Oakwood Drive in Bountiful. A viewing will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary (295 North Main St. in Bountiful) Friday, December 26, from 6:00-8:00 p.m, and at the church Saturday one hour prior to the service. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery.
