Donald G. Eldredge, age 93, from Centerville, Utah passed away Tuesday May 24, 2016 in Layton, Utah of natural causes incident to age. Our wonderful dad, grandpa and great- grandpa was born July 13, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Elmer G. and Nellie McDonald Eldredge. He spent a happy childhood as an only child in Salt Lake City. He graduated from East High School and the University of Utah. He served in the US Navy in World War II aboard the USS California battle ship. He met a spunky girl named Shirley Jeanne Strong in grade school and they married August 2, 1950. He ran a successful insurance agency in Murray Utah and enjoyed serving on the Board of Directors for Bear River Mutual Insurance Company. Don and Shirley enjoyed traveling around the world with relatives and friends, playing bridge with their potluck group and board games with their children and grandchildren. No one could beat grandpa in a game of Monopoly or trick him with words in Scrabble.
Don is survived by his wife, Shirley, daughter, Pamela Webster and son-in-law, Brent, son, Michael Eldredge, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Jani Eldredge. We will all miss his laughter and wise counsel. His family would like to thank Fairfield Village of Layton and Inspiration Hospice for their loving care.
Graveside services will be held Friday May 27, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at the Centerville City Cemetery.
