Donald L. Coburn

August 28, 1925 — February 28, 2020

Donald L. Coburn, 94, passed away peacefully at his home on February 28, 2020. He was born on August 28, 1925 to Iva Hathaway and Ellis Leroy Coburn. Don married his Sweetheart and Love of his Life, Darleen Tucker on November 11, 1943. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on November 29, 1956. Darleen preceded him in death almost 16 years ago. He missed her greatly every day and we are sure there was a wonderful reunion in heaven that day.
Dad was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather and most importantly a friend to all. He was an active member of the LDS Church where he held many callings. He also worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 44 years where he also held many different positions. Everyone that came in contact with him was drawn to him by his loving and caring demeanor.  Dad is also a veteran of World War 2.
Dad loved being with his family, playing golf, camping trips when the kids were younger, bowling and remodeling homes. He loved his family and enjoyed traveling to see them. He would travel to Sutherland, North Platte, Omaha as well as Arkansas to see his son Scott. His last trip was just last year August 2019.
Don is survived by his 2 sons, Tim (Bev) Coburn, Charlie “Scott” Coburn. Also his 6 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter that was the light of his eye. Also survived by sister-in-law Renee Coburn. He is preceded in death by his parents, his eternal sweetheart Darleen, his son Dan Coburn as well as his Grandson Mark Coburn and all of his siblings.
A celebration of life will be held Tuesday March 3, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the LDS Stake Center, 760 North 1200 West. SLC, UT. 84116. Family would love to meet friends of Don and share stories of this fabulous man. Please join us that evening, light refreshments will be served. Family will be having a private graveside service on Wednesday March 4, 2020.
While flowers are a beautiful tribute, they wilt and die. But a simple act of kindness can last forever. In honor of our wonderful father and grandfather, please in lieu of flowers, think of others and do a kind deed for someone in need.
