Donna Riggs Bruin 1929 2011 Our loving mother, grandmother, and friend, Donna Riggs Bruin passed away peacefully at her home in Provo, Utah on August 31, 2011. Donna was born on April 27, 1929 in Wellsville, Utah to Melvin Perkins Riggs and Mabel Spencer Riggs. She moved to Salt Lake City, Utah when she was 8 years old. After her graduation from South High School she married John Nephi Bruin and had 5 children (later divorced). Donna and her family later moved to Granada Hills, California where she spent many wonderful years and made many memories with loving friends. She loved dancing and traveling with her friends. She returned to Utah and spent the remaining years of her life here. Upon returning to Utah she worked for Provo School District as a crossing guard up until last May and loved seeing her kids every morning and afternoon going to and from school. Donna was a bookkeeper by profession but she felt her most important job was raising her 5 children. She loved being a mother and a grandmother more than anything else. She would always say, My children are the cake but my grandchildren are the frosting on the cake. She loved making the holidays special for her family and loved having her family all together. Her life was spent devoted to her family. In the days preceding her death she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Donna was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and enjoyed serving in many callings throughout her life including Primary President and various Relief Society positions. She showed by example to reach out to those in need. Her live was a true example of generosity and love. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Charlotte Riggs, her brother Spencer Riggs and her daughter Pamela Lawrence. She is survived by her sons Brad (Gayla), Greg (Colleen), and daughters Patti Carlyle, and Kari Zeyer (Monte), and 9 grandchildren. Donnas family would like to thank the loving care provided by Alpine Hospice.
