Donna Eileen Spackman Hyde, 75, passed away on April 10, 2025.
Donna was born on November 18, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Lloyd and Trudy Welch Spackman. She grew up on Main Street in Farmington, Utah, on a farm where she harvested fruit and spent many hours canning with her mother. Donna also enjoyed spending time at Lagoon, which she could see and hear from her back porch. As a teen, she attended Davis High School and remained a proud Davis Dart throughout her life. During the summers, she worked in the penny arcade at Lagoon, where she met her husband, Steve Hyde.
Donna married her loving husband on December 28, 1968, and they were later sealed in the St. George, Utah Temple on August 21, 1976. They raised their seven children in both Las Vegas and New Jersey. Following the passing of her husband in 1989, she returned with her family to Farmington, where she helped care for her parents. Education was extremely important to Donna, and she led by example—returning to Weber State University and graduating with a degree in social work. Her caring nature led her to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. After retirement, she volunteered as a grief counselor at the University of Utah, where she received the Carma Kent Heart of Caring Award for her service.
Donna enjoyed serving as a Bountiful Temple worker, a missionary at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, in various church callings, singing in her ward choirs, and most recently, working with FamilySearch. Donna was a woman in constant motion. She enjoyed hobbies such as book club, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and Lemonade Ladies. Most often, though, Donna could be found working in her yard among her beautiful flowers. She loved walking her yard and talking with those who visited.
Donna was most proud of her 7 children, 31 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. She loved them all dearly, and they loved her in return.
Donna is survived by her children: Shelice (Gary) Murphy, Christopher (Rachel) Hyde, Angela (Charles) Leech, Kathryn (John) Cornejo, Lisa (Tim) Burningham, Markham (Brittany) Hyde, and Lindsay (Adam) Barnett. She is also survived by her in-laws: Dee (Helen) Hyde, Jennifer Parkey, and Carolyn Spackman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Frank Hyde; her parents, Lloyd and Gertrude Spackman; her brothers, Robert Lloyd and Richard Michael Spackman; and her grandson, Nathan Alexander Murphy.
A viewing will be held on Friday, April 18th, from 6–8pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary in Farmington, Utah. The funeral will be held on Saturday, April 19th, at 11am, with a short viewing prior from 9:45–10:45am at the Kaysville South Stake Center, 900 S. Main Street.
