Donna Jean Compton Petersen, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016. She was born on June 13, 1934, to Mathew and Pearl Compton. She grew up in Brigham City, Utah and attended Box Elder High School where she fell in love with her eternal companion and the love of her life, Fred Lowell Petersen. They were married on November 6, 1953 in the Logan Temple. Together they raised five children: Holly (Michael) Urbancic, Peggy (Stephen) Bond, Rees (Lisa), Scott, and Heather (Dan, deceased) Pickett. Donna was a founding member of the Altiora Ladies Club and a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was a talented musician, seamstress, and interior designer. She loved camping, traveling in the motor home, reading, canoeing, and sailing on the Great Salt Lake. Donna was a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served as ward and stake Relief Society President along with many other callings. She is survived by her brother, Harold (Hal) R. Compton, her husband, her children, 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staffs at Legacy Village in Taylorsville, and Fairfield Village in Layton, Utah.
Her funeral will be Saturday, March 26 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS chapel at 585 East Center Street, Bountiful, Utah, with a viewing from 9:45-10:45 prior to the service. There will also be a viewing on Friday evening, March 25, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful. Interment will be in the Bountiful City Cemetery.
