Mrs. Penney of North Salt Lake City, UT. Passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021, in Murray, UT. At the KPC Promise Hospital of Salt Lake. She was born on October 16, 1941, in the town of Layton, UT., at the family home, South of Antelope Drive on Main Street.. Donna was the fifth child of five children born to her parents, Leonard Charles Morgan and Iva Jane Anderson Morgan. Donna’s father Leonard passed away when she was 19 months old; and 39.7 months when her mother Iva remarried to Thomas Fred Jones and had two sisters by 7.25 years age.
She was a graduate of Davis High, were we met, in Kaysville, UT. Donna was married to Philip D. Penney in 1959, in Pocatello, ID. Later Solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. At the time as a resident of Clearfield, UT. We had 62 years, 2 days together to count and praise as a joy & a blessing.
My Wife, Our mother, loving grandmother, aunt, sister and dear friend. She gave a three year fight against an Odyssey of maladies (Not the least of which was Osteoporosis in 2018). An enormous debt of thanks goes out from myself and my family, to the many front line health providers, workers, councilors, emergency medical transporters and doctors; in a dozen or so hospitals, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, acute care, ambulances and clinics facilities.
A daughter of God has gone home to reside in heaven. Dearest Angel to our lives, Donna we thank you for blessing our lives and filling them with testimony, witness of the Gospel, love, service, laughter, and joy. You will always be in our hearts, and we know that you will be nearby and over us.
Donna was a full time wife, mother and homemaker. She loved to cook, sew, quilt, garden, preserve fruits and vegetables, work inside her home and take care of her much loved family. She especially enjoyed growing flowers around her home and arranging dried flowers set to vase and pottery. She went stoically and with delight to camping, back packing, fishing & picnicking; to National Parks, wilderness, mountain tops, lakes, rivers and Zions narrows. She arranged, wrote and illustrated a storybook of children’s interest, in the title of: Chipper the Chick inspired by the genre of: Little Red Hen. At the time it was for her grandchildren.
Donna was a devout follower of the Savior and practiced her faith as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many capacities over a long life of service, nursery leader and compassionate leader were major devotions. Also singing in the Ward choir and Cub Scouts of America den mother.
Her older siblings: Thelma & Hoyt Weeks, Carl & Margaret Morgan, Dee & JoAnn Morgan, Keith & Mari Morgan, and Geri Morgan preceded her in death, also her parents and stepfather. Donna’s son Bryan M. Penney and daughter Angela K. Poole preceded her in death.
Donna is survived by her husband Philip; a son and daughter-in-law; Leon P. & Donna Marie Penney, a daughter and son-in-law; Laura J.& Joel M. Finch, a son-in-law and wife; Sam B. & Heather Denise Poole, sisters & brothers-in-law: Mabel & Lane Smith plus Enid & Kent Burch, sister-in-law Sheri L. Penney. Also ex-daughter-in-laws Laura Taff Gordon Penney & Annette Sommer Penney. Also leaves behind her beloved 29 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Also Many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Orchard 3rd Ward Chapel, 261 E. Center St., North Salt Lake, Ut. , where a visitation will be held from 11:30 -12:30 p.m. prior to services. (Covid 19 masking & spacing in place)
