Donna Mae Kane Bennett

May 27, 1929 — November 27, 2019

Our Dearest Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Donna Mae Kane Bennett, returned to her Heavenly Home on Wednesday November 27th 2019 at the age of 90 1/2 years.

She was born May 27th 1929 in Gunnison, Colorado to John Terrance Kane & Rachel Mary Muhlestein Kane.  Her father passed away when she was 11 years old.  She moved to Provo, Utah in 1941 where her mother met and later married, Fay Piatt.  The family moved to Sioux City, Iowa in 1942 for a short time and then returned to Bountiful, Utah in 1943.

She was raised in the coal mining town of Somerset, Colorado, where she enjoyed playing in the river behind her childhood home.  She made many friends while in Somerset and remained close to them throughout her life.  She also greatly enjoyed spending time with her cousins, who grew up in the same town.

She was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was baptized at the age of 19.  From that time forward, she was a faithful member of the church.  She served in many callings, including primary, visiting teacher and Sunday school.

She lived in the same home in Centerville, Utah for more than 60 years.  During that time there were wonderful neighbors who loved and cared for her as if she were their own Mother or Sister.  She loved growing her beautiful Iris along her fence lines and had a wide variety of colors.

She enjoyed family, and provided Thanksgiving weekend for more than 15 years in the Heber Valley.  She also gave her family a Christmas gathering at the Bountiful Recreation Center (Bubble), for nearly 25 years.

She enjoyed trips to Taylor Reservoir in Colorado, where she took her family for many years each summer.  Fishing, 4 wheeling, boating, campfires and just spending quiet summer evenings in God's country.

A few years before her passing, she experienced a life long dream of visiting Scotland & Ireland.  She was able to walk the streets her ancestors walked.  She loved the beautiful scenery and the rich history.

She married Charles Nielsen Bennett on May 31st 1947.  They were sealed together on February 14th 1990 in the Salt Lake Temple.  They were blessed with 4 children, 2 daughters & 2 sons.

She leaves behind her 4 children: RaNae Bangerter (Ken), Karen Rae Bennett, Michael Kane Bennett (Nancy) and Kelly Kane Bennett.  She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, both parents and a brother & sister.

Her life was remembered & celebrated on Saturday December 7th 2019.  She was laid to rest in the Bountiful Cemetery.

A Special Thank You to Symbii Hospice Nurse Alisa, CNA's Mariam, Jessica, Tonia, Dr. Grant Christian and Shay for their loving care of our Mother.
Additionally, we thank Executive Director David Coles, Jessica, Ashley, Navy, Cody, and Hailee of the Legacy House of Bountiful who cared for our Mother the way they would have cared for their own.

Momma will be deeply missed by all who loved her…til we meet again.
