Donna May Nye Amott

June 24, 1926 — July 9, 2021

Donna May Nye Amott, 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 9, 2021 in the home of her daughter, Carla and son-in-law, Craig Bentley. She was born in Magna, Utah on June 24, 1926 to Frank Weldon and Amy Collings Nye. She graduated from Cyprus High School during World War II and then worked at the armory to support the war effort. She left the armory to work for the Office of the Presiding Bishop. She met Richard Wesley Amott at Brigham Young University and married him April 14, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with five daughters. She loved and adored her 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Donna was incredibly talented at the organ and piano and played for years at church services. She enjoyed doing puzzles, coloring books, ceramics, and embroidery.  She was a hard worker, often canning fruit, pickles, and relish late into the night after putting in a full day at work. She was a strong and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked many hours in the Salt Lake, Ogden, and Bountiful temples with her husband. Her greatest talent was her radiating spirit and love that was felt by anyone who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters: Peggy (Gordon) Bywater, Linda Jensen, Connie Calo, and Carla (Craig) Bentley; son-in-law, Don Armstrong; and sister, Laura (Frank) Larsen.

She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Amott; her parents, Frank Weldon and Amy Nye; her sister, Lola (Max Sayer); brother, Eldon (Shirlee Nye); daughter, Ruth Armstrong; and sons-in-law: Jon Jensen and Ed Calo.

A special thank you to Elevation Hospice nurse and aids: Darian, Ana, and Veronica who provided tender loving care to Donna.  She loved them very much.

A viewing will be held at Russon Mortuary on Thursday evening, July 15th from 7-9pm, 295 North Main St, Bountiful, Utah.  The funeral will be held Friday, July 16th at 11:00am with a viewing preceding it at 9:30-10:30 at the Riverton Summerhill LDS Stake Center, 12110 South 1300 West, Riverton, Utah.  Interment will be at the Lake View Cemetery in Bountiful, Utah.
