Dora Spencer

June 15, 1924 — August 11, 2013

Dora Hansen Spencer, 89 passed away August 11, 2013 in Bountiful, UT. She was born June 15, 1924 in Fountain Green, UT to Hyrum N. Hansen and Alice Ostler. Her mother died when she and her twin sister were born. She was raised by Murel and Ellilian Ivory. They were always Dad and Mother to her. She married Harold L. Spencer Feb. 9, 1952 in Ftn. Green. Their marriage was solemnized later in the Manti temple. He died December 13, 1990. She was an active member of the LDS church and held positions in teaching and leadership in both stake and ward levels. She loved music and was pianist and organist in all church auxiliaries from her teenage years throughout most of her life. She was the first Golden Gleaner in the Fountain Green Ward. During the Second World War years she played piano in the Revelers Dance Band. She loved going to different towns to play for their dances. She lived in several different states and each place they moved she would find employment and meet new friends. She loved people. She liked to work having learned to work in her youth. After forty years of working in various places she retired from the Colorado Air National Guard. She operated, with her husband, the Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Store in Aurora, CO after her retirement. In 1991 she moved to St. George where she worked as an ordinance worker in the St. George Temple. She always hoped to be remembered as having done some good, and make life more pleasant and happy by helping someone. She dearly loved her family, nieces, nephews and friends. She was a very active person, enjoyed painting and rock hunting. She lived in Bountiful, UT the last 14 years.

She is survived by her step-children H. LeSpencer (Deanne) Covina, CA, Teralee Reynolds (John Marlin) Salt Lake city, UT, sister Rachel Syme Fountain Green, UT. Also her grand children, great grand children and many loving nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held August 19 at the Fountain Green LDS Chapel, 200 West 100 South, from 11:30 to 12:30 with graveside service at 1 p.m. in the Fountain Green Cemetery. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com.
