Dora Strasser

January 1, 1912 — July 18, 2011

Margaret Strasser passed away July 18, 2011 in Bountiful, Utah. Margaret was born January 1, 1912 in Zurich, Switzerland to Albert Heppley (Hoeppli) and Maria Elise Kern, the youngest of five children. After the passing of her mother in 1918, the family made plans to emigrate to Utah and finally arrived in1924. She attended school in Zurich, Logan and Salt Lake City, graduating from West High School and later from Stevens-Henager College. Margaret married Eugene Strasser, also a Swiss emigrant, on August 25, 1933 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was a founding member of the Swiss Chorus Edelweiss. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in numerous callings and had a deep and abiding testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a an associate member of the DUP, former employee of the ZCMI and the University of Utah Accounting Dept. Margaret was a wonderful and goodly mother, grandmother, friend, neighbor and great example of a life of service to others. She will live on through her righteous example and her famous recipes that we all love. The family wishes to thank all the Hospice and Bountiful Heritage Place employees who gave Margaret such expert and loving care. A special thanks to all her wonderful Heritage friends who loved Margaret and looked after her. We also appreciate the loving kindness of the LDS Heritage Branch Leadership and volunteers. Survivors: children, Margo Gene France (Ron), Delbert H. (Mary Lou), and Linda June Vonk (Ray); 11 grandchildren; one foster grandson; and 25 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, all of her siblings and two grandsons. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Bountiful Utah South Stake Center, 1250 South Main from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A private graveside service and interment will be held July 22, 2011 at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Perpetual Education Fund of the LDS Church.
