Dorene "Doe" Zundel

June 26, 1933 — August 14, 2014

Dorene June White Zundel (Doe), 81, died peacefully August 14, 2014 with loved ones by her side. She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Carter Nish Zundel and their six children: Michael Nish (LuAnn), Steven Greg (Lynne), Roger Brian (Pamela), Kathy Leigh Lowe (Roger), James Matthew (Kirsten) and Ryan Dustin (Kylee), 25 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Doe was born in Tremonton, Utah on June 26, 1933 and graduated from Bear River High School where she met and fell in love with Nish. After being married in the Logan Temple she traveled with Nish as a pilot’s wife in the United States Air force for three years and eventually settled down in Bountiful Utah to raise their family in the Bountiful Fourth Ward, where she made many great and lasting friendships. She was a wise and loving mother and grandmother who made delicious cookies, pies, breads, casseroles and roasts. As a young woman she did some modeling and was always blessed with a touch of glamour. She was a wonderful conversationalist with her children and spent many long evenings with each of them discussing dreams, traumas and everlasting truths. She was sweet and kind and an “over-the-top” grandma with a talent for picking just the right gift for those she loved. Despite years of illness due to the ravages of diabetes that eventually left her without sight or the ability to walk she kept a sweet disposition and was always anxious for news about the newest grandbaby. Doe was preceded in death by her parents Zeb and Lena White, her sisters, Grace Orme and Afton Checketts, and by her brother Harry White. Her husband and posterity will miss her and are grateful for the blessing she was in our lives. We know that she has gone to a better place where she will meet the Savior with gladness.
Services will be held for Dorene on Thursday, August 21, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. in the LDS Chapel at 200 South Eagle Ridge Drive, North Salt Lake, where a viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
We are grateful for the excellent care given to mother by Beehive Homes.
