Doris Joy Myers Wiscombe, sweet mother, wife, friend, and songbird, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the age of 88.
Joy was born April 7, 1928, the fifth child born to Thomas G. Myers and Doris Adalinda Thornton.
At just twelve years of age, Joy became a surviving witness to a devastating propane gasoline explosion that took the life of her mother, father, three of her sisters and younger brother. Joy loved her family dearly and they remained in her thoughts, always.
Joy met Arthur Clark Wiscombe at Brigham Young University and married him in the Salt Lake LDS Temple May 28, 1948. Together, they had six children.
Joy was delighted by simplicity and sought after the uplifting and inspiring. She loved to sing, play the piano, collect odds and ends, and spend time in the garden. Family and friends always enjoyed her constant smile and surprising sense of humor.
Joy is survived by her son, Steven (JoAnna); daughters: Renda Layton (Robert Strong), Paula Muhlestein (David), Cheri Adams (Eric), Jamie Rip (Daniel); 29 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur and daughter Julie Ann.
Funeral services will be held at 12pm, Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at the Canyon Park Ward, 1190 Bountiful Hills Drive, Bountiful. Family and friends may gather one-hour prior at 11am. Interment Lakeview Cemetery, Bountiful.
