Doris Singleton Tingey passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 7, 2010. Doris waged a war with Parkinsons Disease and won more often than the disease did. Courage under fire was an understatement with her. Doris was born in Ogden, Utah on August 11, 1931 to VaCona and Fred Singleton. She was the first born of three girls. She graduated from Weber High School, attended Weber State College and graduated from Stevens Henager College. She was married to Vaughn S. Tingey on June 20, 1956, in Plain City, Utah. She was a wonderful wife, and was married for 54 years. She was an incredibly supportive mother who became a Girl Scout leader and Primary Secretary to be close to her children. She also attended every sporting event any of her children participated in. Her high expectations for her children was always matched by her own enthusiasm and determination for success. She lead by example offering lessons in hard work and true integrity. She worked tirelessly for the Davis County School District serving in many capacities as Head Secretary. She worked at South Davis Jr. High, the Davis County Development Center, and Bountiful High School. The majority of her career was spent doing her favorite job, serving as the Head Secretary at Bountiful High School. She was a true Brave, and always went beyond the call of duty. She was an AVID Jazz fan! She loved traveling with Vaughn, where she continually added to many of her collections. Her favorite past time was to spend time with her grandkids and great grandkids. Most recently she enjoyed photography and paper crafts. She is survived by her husband, Vaughn; daughter, Vonda Kay (Tony); daughter, Bonnie Jo (Doug); son, Blair (Leesa), and daughter, Suzanne (Dave); 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Beth and Jeannie. She was preceded in death by her mother and father. The Tingey family wishes to acknowledge the care given by Dr. Scott West, Dr. Val Hansen and most especially to Dr. Lauren Shrock. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the University of Utah Hospital in memory of Doris Tingey, c/o Dr. Lauren Shrock. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, where there will be a viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment-Plain City Cemetery.
