Dorothy Edith White Goff-Mecham 1918 – 2007

Dorothy Edith White Goff-Mecham 1918 ~ 2007. Dorothy passed away in the Salt Lake Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family, July 30, 2007. Dorothy was born April 8, 1918 in the East Millcreek area of the Salt Lake Valley to Alfred Henry White and Johanna Marie Cardall White. Graduated from West High School in 1936. Married Delwyn Elwood Goff, January 25, 1941 in North Salt Lake. Married Lowell Mecham, April 15, 1995 in Salt Lake City.

She worked at Woolworths, Walgreens, J. C. Penney, and The Paris Company but considered her greatest calling, wife and mother. She had a wonderful work ethic and attention to detail. Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, embroidery, and ceramics. Dorothy loved to go camping, hunting, and fishing which she did often with her husband, Del. Weekends were designated for these favorite activities and Dorothy was a willing participant and a very good sport. Duchesne was Del?s hometown and they enjoyed visiting regularly. They also loved to dance ? it was one of their favorite pastimes. Dorothy always loved music. Before she was married she took electric Hawaiian guitar lessons and violin lessons. She wanted her girls to have a piano? one day, a salesman came by in a truck selling pianos. Dorothy bought one, and the girls all took piano lessons. Dorothy was a remarkable woman with a tremendous legacy to leave her numerous-descendents. Her life was one of good deeds, kindness, and unselfishness. The description in Proverbs 31 of a virtuous woman could very well have been written of Dorothy. Her virtue was indeed far above rubies. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren honor her and appreciate the impact she has made in their lives.

She is survived by four children; Madalyn Ron Ames, Marion Jack Gull, Claudia Larsen, and Delwyn Mary Goff; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eva Larvin Pollock and Vera White. Preceded in death by her parents, husband of 40 years Delwyn Elwood Goff, husband of 6 years Lowell Mecham, three brothers, three sisters, daughter Aurla Jerry Goff-Palmer, and granddaughter Papra DeDe Larsen.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 4, 2007, 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, University Ward, 160 South University Street, Salt Lake City, Utah. The family will receive friends at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, Salt Lake City, Utah, Friday, August 3, 2007 from 6-8 pm and Saturday from 9:30 ? 10:30 am at the church. Internment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.

The family wishes to acknowledge Dorothy?s long time physician, Dr. Moore, and his staff as well as the hospital and home-health care professionals who compassionately cared for their mother during her latest illness.
