Dorothy Grace Taylor

February 23, 1926 — December 1, 2013

Dorothy Grace Barber Taylor passed away on Sunday December 1, 2013 in Bountiful Utah at the age of 87. Born February 23,1926 at the old Bamberger train station to William Norman and Lola Florence Terrell Barber. She was the second child of five children.
She married her sweetheart, Darrell Stott Taylor in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity on November 27, 1945. They had been married for nearly 65 years when Darrell passed away. She graduated from Davis High School and Seminary in May 1944. Shortly after graduation, she left home to attend New York Art League where she studied art in advertising for a year. She was the perfect homemaker. Her home was clean, her children dressed in clothes made mostly by her hand and meals were healthy and colorful. She would bake homemade bread and made homemade laundry detergent. She had grown up loving her Grandmother, Grace Doering Terrell, and had always wanted to be like her.
Dorothy served as Ward and Stake Primary President for many years and was called to be on the Primary General Board in March 1972. She served there for seven years and was released in April of 1979. Darrell and Dorothy served a mission as LDS Employment Specialists in Centerville from May 1986 to September 1987. They loved working there with the people and truly enjoyed seeing the growth of their clients.
During her lifetime, she freely shared her amazing art talent with everyone. She also loved using a scroll saw and made hundreds of items out of all kinds of wood. Among these items were personal nameplates, puzzles, boxes, baskets, clocks, and trains. Her favorite pieces which she gave to her children where a clock tower, ferris wheel and merry-go-round. Her hands were never idol. She knitted sweaters for her children, grandchildren and hundreds of washcloths.
Preceded in death by one son, Dale and husband Darrell. She is survived by her children, Lynn B (Sue) Taylor, Carolyn Taylor and Nancy (Gerald) Christensen; her sister Melva Linge; 11 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
