Our wonderful mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, Dorothy Anderson Larsen passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 in Bountiful, Utah and returned to our Father in Heaven. She lived to see 98 years.
Dorothy was born May 2, 1915 in Salt Lake City, Utah and was the fourth child of John Levi Anderson and Caroline Walker Anderson. She grew up in Salt Lake and attended South High School. She married her eternal companion, Russell William Larsen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, March 24, 1937 and they remained together for 53 years until his death on her birthday in 1990.
Grandma Dot had several interesting jobs including one as a bus driver for Salt Lake City Lines which was the precursor of the Utah Transit Authority. She retired from the University of Utah after many years of service.
Dot loved playing cards and working in her wood shop in the basement of her home. She built many wonderful things including dressers and kitchen cabinets for the family cabin. She always sewed her own clothes even up to age 96.
She served faithfully as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Dorothy is survived by five of her children, Carolyn (Allen ) Adamson, Sharon (Dave) Wilcox, Reed (Gwynne) Larsen, Brian (Karen) Larsen, and Shelly Henkel (Bill); 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and sister LaRue Meine.
Preceded in death by her daughter, Christine Larsen; 6 brothers and sisters: Mary Isom, Leon Anderson, Mel Anderson, Norma Rowley, Renee Smith and Afton Banks.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 24, 2013 at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary 295 North Main, where a viewing will be held 9:30-10:15 a.m. prior to services. Interment-Elysian Burial Gardens. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com
