Dorothy McClellan

Bountiful, UT – Dorothy “Dot” McClellan (91) passed away peacefully January 4, 2013 in the loving care of her son Bruce, surrounded by loving family. Born April 19, 1921 in Bountiful, UT to George William and Hannah Pearl (Richardson) McNeil, she grew up in Salt Lake City, graduating from South High School in 1938. She married Dee Smith McClellan, August 15, 1942, solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, September 30, 1986. She was a skilled machine operator for 15 years at Mountain States Bindery. She served in the LDS Church as a Primary secretary 16+ years, was a Relief Society visiting teacher supervisor and active in the name extraction program 20+ years. She loved outings, camping, and playing games with her family. Following Dee’s death in 2003, she was cared for in her home by her son Brent. She is preceded in death by an infant daughter Carolyn, granddaughter Michele, daughter-in-law Dana, and infant great-granddaughter Cosette McClellan, husband Dee McClellan, brothers Frank and Warren McNeil, sisters Loraine Mulvey and DelVona McNeil. She is survived by brother Doug (Wanda) McNeil (Costa Mesa, CA), daughter Judy (Bruce) Ferrell, sons Terrell D. (Glenna), Bruce E. (Gay Ann), and Brent W. McClellan, all of SLC & Bountiful area. “Grandma Dorothy” particularly loved her 17 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the Bountiful 45th Ward Chapel, 115 Wicker Lane, (1900 S. Orchard Dr), where a viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday morning 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, Ut.
