Dorothy Whittaker

July 18, 1920 — December 17, 2014

Dorothy Evelyn Whittaker passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 17, 2014. Dorothy was born July 18, 1920 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Frank Anthony Savage and Annie Mary Lonien. She married Eldon Lambson Whittaker on September 30, 1942, and they were later sealed together for time and all eternity on January 20, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Dorothy greatly loved her family and was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She enjoyed working in her gardens and flowerbeds. Her priority was motherhood but she supplemented the family income by tying fishing flies in her home, and later worked in the school lunch program. Dorothy had great relationships with her grandchildren. She would regularly have them for sleepovers, make special foods, and plan the best Christmas programs. In addition to various church callings Dorothy and Eldon served for fifteen years in the Salt Lake Temple, which she absolutely cherished.

Dorothy is survived by daughter Sharen (Dennis Jorgenson), son Larry (Lynne), eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Eldon, and brothers Henry and Vernon Savage.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Our House Assisted Living,
Eclipse Home Health, and Envision Home Health & Hospice for their loving care.

Funeral services will be held at Russon Brother’s Mortuary, 255 S. 200 E., Salt Lake City at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20. A viewing will be held prior to the services at 10:00 a.m.
