Biography

Doug (81) passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015 in Bountiful, Utah surrounded by his loving family. Doug was born June 5, 1933 in Hyde Park, Utah to Delilah Faye and Dean Follett. He was the youngest of 5 children. He attended Logan High School and was a proud Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict where he worked on missile guidance systems. In 1957 he married the love of his life, Bette Lou Abel in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Together they had three children; Michelle (Kevin) from Las Vegas, Nevada, Mark (Jennifer) from Springville, Utah and Danielle (Mark) from Omaha, Nebraska and four grandchildren (Mitchell, Miranda, Zac and Jake) whom he cherished. Doug is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings.
Doug had an impressive work ethic and retired from Western Electric (AT&T) after a distinguished 39 year career. He went on to work another 8 years after his “retirement” at Graybar Electric.
Doug was a beautiful person inside and out. He enjoyed golf and spending time with his loving wife Bette. Doug was a kind and gentle person who would always find good things to say about others. He had a keen ability to make people laugh and his love of sweets (candy) and list making was legendary; traits he passed along to his children.
A viewing and celebration of Doug’s life will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah on Saturday January 10 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Graveside services will be held at 11:45 a.m. at Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, Utah.
