Douglas Lee Moxon

“We’re still missing someone, aren’t we?” A question we’ve asked before, and now a question we can scarcely imagine not asking daily, hourly, until we meet our Doug again. 

We’re missing his friendship: his true, unrelenting, selfless loyalty. We’re missing his humor: his quick (usually too quick) wit that only a very lucky few of us could usually discern. We’re missing his brilliant, brilliant mind: his ability to retain and recall anything he’d ever heard, seen, or read. And he read a lot. He loved to read as much as he loved to do anything else–besides spending time with his family. 

He lived for the little things in life: the inside jokes with his brothers, the pranks they pulled on their mom, “cheating” at cards but always poorly enough to get caught… just for a laugh, to lighten the mood, and secretly to remind everyone that some things shouldn’t be taken too seriously. That lesson is felt poignantly today. 

What mattered to Doug was service. He was an Eagle Scout, a returned missionary, and a soldier. He loved being a soldier. He was humbled by the stewardship of being a non-commissioned officer in the Utah Army National Guard, and he took that responsibility seriously. 

Doug’s passing leaves a chasm in our hearts, but we know that through the Infinite Atonement of Jesus Christ, Doug will fill that chasm again. Doug was born in the covenant on May 1, 1993, sealed for eternity to his parents who survive him, Dennis Karl and Jennifer Jean Stout Moxon. He is also survived by his two older brothers – Dennis Scott and Joseph William (Hannah Joy Russon) – and his younger sister, Jacqueline Ann. 

We pray that our affection, acceptance, appreciation, and admiration for Doug will radiate to all others, and make us worthy of the reunion we so long for. 

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 20, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the Sharon East Stake Center, 2400 North 1060 East, Provo, where friends and family may call Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. and Monday 9:45 – 10:45 AM prior to the services. Interment will be in the East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery, 4800 North 650 East, Provo, following the service.
