Dr. David Ronald Brallier was born on January 3, 1942 to Amos & Ruth (Drown) Brallier in Curlew, Iowa. He passed away on December 23, 2015, at age 73 as the result of a car accident.
David graduated (as valedictorian) from Mallard, Iowa Community School (high school) in 1960. His undergraduate studies were done at Wheaton College, in Wheaton, Illinois and University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He continued his medical education at University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, completing his medical degree in 1968. After which he did residencies in pediatrics and radiology in Cleveland and Cincinnati, Ohio. At this time he also served 2 years as a military medical officer stateside, during the Vietnam/Southeast Asia war.
He practiced Pediatric Neuroradiology until the time of his passing. He practiced with FRC radiology group at the INOVA Fairfax Hospital, in Fairfax, Virginia, from which he retired at age 65. However, being the hard worker he was, he continued to practice at the Children’s Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska for several years. In 2011 he decided to give New Zealand a try and practiced at hospitals in Auckland and Whangarei, both cities on the north island.
David enjoyed hunting pheasants & waterfowl with his cousins in his youth and also deer and elk in his adult years. David enjoyed traveling with his wife Cheryl, visiting art museums, reading, and working with his hands. Dave had a zest for life and learning and he loved the ocean.
David married Cheryl Payne Ellsworth in August 17, 1991 in Salt Lake City, Utah. (Cheryl was seriously injured in the car accident and is recovering in a hospital in Salt Lake.) With this marriage David inherited 4 children, and later on 2 daughters-in-law and 6 grandchildren who loved him dearly.
David was preceded in death by his parents- Ruth and Amos Brallier; brother-in-law- Neil Dean; and mother-in-law – Elaine Payne. He is survived by his wife- Cheryl Payne Ellsworth Brallier; his 4 step children- Mike Ellsworth (who is married to Kathryn Hanson), Traci Ellsworth, Kerri Ellsworth, & Ryan Ellsworth (who is married to Kerrie Walkenhorst); 6 grandchildren- Braxton Ellsworth, Dayton Palmer, Taylor Ellsworth, Hailey Ellsworth, Eli Ellsworth & Logan Ellsworth; his sister- Sheryl Dean Kliegle (married to Pete Kliegle); nephew- Nathan Dean, niece’s- Melanie Draper and Rebekah Rothfuss. He will be sadly missed by extended family, friends and work colleagues.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Maple Hills LDS Chapel, 1320 East 1975 South, Bountiful, where a visitation will be held from 11:45 a.m. -12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment-Lakeview Cemetery.
