Dr. Glenn Sidney Gold, Jr., 75, passed away on the morning of May 12, 2018, at Orchard Cove in Bountiful, Utah, after complications following a fall. He was born on January 9, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Glenn and Virginia Gold. Glenn was raised in Bountiful, working in the family business at Pineae Greenhouses in Centerville, Utah, and graduated from Bountiful High School in 1961. He then served a mission for the LDS Church in Northern California from 1962 to 1964. He attended the University of Utah and later the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco from 1966 to 1970, where he met and later married his sweetheart Janet Roberts in the Oakland Temple on August 12, 1967. After his residency in Hopedale, Illinois, he moved back to Bountiful to establish his podiatry practice, practicing in Bountiful and in Layton at Tanner Clinic for 40 years, later teaching at the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City. He loved every one of his patients and cared about them as if they were family. He sang barbershop for 24 years with the Beehive Statesmen. He served in leadership positions for the state professional licensing, Utah Podiatry Association, family history groups, and various church callings. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends traveling, hunting, fishing, camping, and being in the outdoors, as well as cultivating his great love of reading and learning.
Glenn is survived by his wife Janet, daughter Nicole (Ted) Peck, son Scott (Brittney) Gold, daughter Melissa Gold; grandchildren Savanna, Sydney, Conner, Katie, Jacob, Sophie, Brecken, Bentley, and Blythe; sisters Karen Miller and Kathryn Allen, and brother Richard Gold. Glenn is preceded in death by his parents and grandson Oliver “C.J.” Peck.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday May 16, 2018, at the Bountiful 16th Ward Chapel at 720 East 550 North in Bountiful, Utah. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday May 15, 2018, at Russon Mortuary at 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah and Wednesday 9:45-10:45 prior to the services at the Bountiful 16th Ward. In lieu of flowers, please contribute a donation in Glenn’s name to the LDS Church’s Perpetual Missionary Fund or General Temple Patron Assistance Fund.
