Dr. Robert Lee Poulson peacefully returned home to his loving Heavenly Father on February 16, 2016. "Doc" was born May 11, 1920 in Riverside, UT to Merritt Lee and Merle Peterson Poulson. Doc moved with his family many times during his young life and quickly made friends wherever he went. Doc was serving a mission in the Hawaiian Islands when Pearl Harbor was bombed. When he returned from his mission, he joined the army and attended veterinary school at Colorado A & M (Colorado State University).
Doc married his sweetheart, Barbara Tweedie, in the St. George LDS Temple on June 25, 1946. They moved to Tremonton and set up his veterinary practice. He enjoyed serving in the bishopric and the City Council. In his spare time Doc played trumpet in a dance band and trained Shetland ponies.
After 20 years of serving the good farmers and ranchers of Box Elder County, Doc and Barbara moved to Bountiful. He was the Assistant State Veterinarian and State Brand Inspector for the State of Utah until his retirement.
Retirement didn't slow Doc down. He enjoyed life to the fullest, especially enjoying his art-even winning awards for his bronze sculptures. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and attended their numerous baseball games and musical events.
Doc is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Bountiful and three children: David, of Logan; Lani (Michael Rudick), of Salt Lake City; and Lynda (Marty) Steed of Centerville. He has two grandchildren, Ryan (Brooke) Steed of Rockwall, TX and Karin Steed of Centerville. The light of his later life was his two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Jaxon Steed. He is also survived by his sister, Elaine Winn, of Salt Lake City.
