Drake Thayer Evans

August 29, 1947 — March 2, 2017

My big brother returned to be with Mom, Dad (Thayer Davis and Berniece U. Evans) and Bradd on March 2, 2017.  He was the perfect big brother. He was always willing to watch us if Dad and Mom had to go out. All it cost them was cleaning off hand drawn tattoos he had drawn on each of us, when they returned. My big brother could do anything. I watched him compete in many different sports, I watched him sing in everything from duets to Barbershop choruses. I watched, and participated in many plays he had written and directed. I have paintings hanging in my home that he did for me. He graduated from West High School and the University of Utah. He took me to my first football game up there.

He married the love of his life, Ramona Luker on August 20 1970, in the Salt Lake Temple.  Together they had 3 children.  Even though they later divorced I have never seen a couple cooperate and work so hard together to raise 3 of the most wonderful people I have ever met.  Cory (Jennie), Erin (Merritt) Taylor, and Lauren (Jason) Arrington. Oh how my brother loved his children.  He was a great example of a “being there” Dad.  The greatest tribute to my brother is the lives his 3 children are living. You did well Drake.  When he became “ Grandpa” to Eason, Noelle, Ellie, Jessie, Rachel, Jackson, and Quinn ,his love for family only grew.  Whenever we talked I got to hear all about the successes and joy his grandkids brought into his life.

My sister Eileen (Rich) Humphreys, and brother Layne (Roxanne) and I (Kelly and Susan) will miss him so very much.  Drakes sense of humor could lighten any room and he made you feel welcome.  He faced his challenges in life head on and I learned so many things by watching my big brother.  We will all miss him so very much but his influence and memory will always be a part of our lives. A viewing will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary in Salt Lake City on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 6-8 pm. Graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 7th at 11:00 am at the Salt Lake Cemetery.  Online guestbook available at www.russonmortuary.com
