Duane Gadd

November 23, 1961 — February 7, 2012

Duane Kimball Gadd, age 50, passed away February 7, 2012. Duane was born November 23, 1961 to Melvin D. and Rosemary K. Gadd. Duane attended schools in the Bountiful area and graduated from the University of Utah with a Master’s Degree in Education.
Duane married Janice Abbott, February 14, 1985. They have two daughters, Amy and Danielle. Duane adored his daughters. He was devoted to his family and they spent many hours together hiking, bicycling, camping, skiing and boating. Duane was an avid hiker. He hiked the mountain areas throughout Davis County constantly. He hiked and backpacked in many areas throughout the surrounding states, but his favorite area remained the Uinta Mountains. Duane’s wife and daughters often accompanied him, and the family dog was always at his side. Duane was especially close to his father and his parents accompanied the family on many of their camping and hiking trips.
Duane had a passion for teaching. He taught science at Millcreek Jr. High for many years and touched the lives for good of hundreds of young people. He was committed to excellence in his teaching and spent countless hours in preparation. Over the years he also mentored the chess club and coached basketball and track.
Duane was never idle. He had a thirst for knowledge and was never without a book or two to read. Words cannot express how much he will be missed.
Duane is survived by his wife and two daughters; his parents; his brothers, Paul (Holly) and Brian (Dalynn); sister, Leslie (Rock) Thompson; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, where a visitation will be held 1 hour prior to services. Interment-Lakeview Cemetery.
