Dylan had a contagious passion for life, love, adventure, diversity, and beauty whether in his insatiable consumption of nature or in the people he adored. He never stopped working for new enriching relationships and never stopped pushing himself to master new skills.
He crammed more life into his 33 years than most do in 80 and inspired all of us with his light.
Dylan made us laugh, we couldn’t help it. His antics, his pure lack of inhibition, and his refusal to do anything the regular way endeared him to us. He lived and breathed “out of the box” and was constantly surprising us with what he was willing to take on. If he didn’t know how, he taught himself; if someone said it couldn’t be done, he was off to prove them wrong.
He was a gifted friend, a devoted big brother, and a loving and exemplary son. So easy to love, so joyful to know, and once you were invited into his heart, his loyalty and generosity knew no bounds.
He made everyone whether family, lifelong friend or new acquaintance feel loved, safe, important, heard and seen, without judgment of any kind. He soaked in all the varied gifts and insights others could share and wasted no time on judgement, grudges, or contention.
After graduating from Davis High School in Kaysville Utah, he served a church mission in San Francisco California. He earned bachelor’s degrees from both Utah Valley University and BYU with certifications as a licensed EMT and firefighter, as well as personal trainer. His lifelong gift and love for art helped him settle on animation as his career. He worked in TV, film and gaming for Disney, Lucas Film, Blizzard and Nickelodeon as well as freelance animation work.
He loved mountain climbing and biking, canyoneering, surfing, kayaking, skiing and hiked the Pacific Crest Trail solo, the last part barefoot.
He left this world enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery he loved and drove straight on into his next adventure.
He is adored and will be remembered by countless friends and family:

Words are pathetically inadequate to express the feeling of gratitude in our hearts. As excruciating as this has been, we can’t imagine how much more painful it would be without your expressions of love, delicious food, and hugs. Your thoughtful service has filled needs we didn’t realize we had until you offered, the stories that you’ve shared keep Dylan’s light bright (please keep them coming), and your insane financial generosity has helped us keep our focus on the beautiful people instead of the worry. You have softened the sharp edges of our grief and cleared our path so we can walk more smoothly toward eventual healing. God bless you for your love and care. We will never, ever forget it.
