Earl Chester Johnson passed away at home surrounded by his family on December 15, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with multiple medical issues. We are certain he had a joke for the many family members and friends waiting to greet him on the other side.
He is survived by his beloved wife Virginia, daughters Phaedra, Kristine, and Marilyn, son-in-law Trent, granddaughter Tashena, and grandson Sean. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Marjorie, and sisters Isabel, Sharon, and June.
Earl had a great love of people and would talk to anyone he met, from waiters to bank tellers to random strangers. He was a great favorite of his co-workers at WCF and his many nieces and nephews because of his outgoing personality and wicked sense of humor.
Earl had an encyclopedic knowledge of hockey and loved cheering very boisterously for the Colorado Avalanche and Team Canada. He was proud to be Canadian and would sing “O Canada” on demand in both English and French (even though he did not speak French).
Earl loved volunteering and spent many hours listening to elementary students read aloud and playing Santa Claus for school and church groups. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
There will be a visitation for family and friends on December 22, 2021 from 7-9 pm at Russon Mortuary 295 North Main, Bountiful.
His family wishes to thank the many doctors and nurses who took such great care of him during the last month of his life.
