Earl LeRoy Larson

Earl LeRoy Larson passed from this earthly existence on 1 March 2021 due to complications from Parkinson’s disease. He had suffered for the last few years from this debilitating condition.

He was born in Driggs, Idaho on 8 August 1934 to Earl and Leona Larson. He spent the first few years of his life living in a tent with his parents and two older sisters beside Jenny Lake, Wyoming. The majority of his childhood was spent in American Fork, Utah. He graduated from American Fork High School and was always proud to say he was a Caveman!

LeRoy worked for Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company, most commonly known as the “phone company” right out of high school. He later served a mission to the East Central States Mission 1956-1958. Upon his return he married his sweetheart, Elouise Bassett, who had waited those 2 years for him. They were married in the Manti Temple on 7 March, 1958. This Sunday is March 7 and it will be 63 beautiful years of marriage. 5 children were born to them, 1 son and 4 daughters- Scott, Jenae, Jill, Julie, Teresa. They raised their family in Nephi and Bountiful.

LeRoy served in the Utah National Guard and Army Reserve in their early years of marriage. He worked at various occupations before continuing his career with Mountain Bell. He retired after 30 years with the phone company. He then worked for CTC Joslyn and Thomas & Betts for several years.

LeRoy was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in many callings some of his favorites were Branch President of the LifeCare Center in Bountiful, temple ordinance worker in the Bountiful Temple, and usher at the Tabernacle on Temple Square for many years. He and his wife served two missions to the Orlando Temple where they made many lifelong friends. His greatest love was his family. They spent much time together and some of the fun memories were made at Fish Lake, Disneyland and Disney World and many other family vacations. Together, LeRoy and Elouise took cruises and trips to many places around the world including China, Australia, New Zealand, Panama Canal, Alaska, Hawaii, church history tours and many others. They enjoyed seeing the sights and being together.

LeRoy leaves behind his dear wife, Elouise, his sister May, and 4 daughters; Jenae (Jon), Jill (Doug), Julie (Steven), Teresa (David), 1 foster son, Douglas Benally, 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, He is preceded in death by his son Scott and great granddaughter Ellie, his parents and 2 siblings.

Thank you to all the angel caregivers at Rocky Mountain Care in Clearfield and the Rocky Mountain Hospice workers. Their kindness and concern made his last days tender for him and his family.

Funeral services will be held at the LDS church at 980 North Shepard Church Drive, Farmington, Utah, on Saturday 6 March 2021 at 11:00am. There will be a viewing at 10:00-10:45 prior to the service. Masks are appreciated for those at the viewing and service. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
