Earl Winger

Earl Duane Winger, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away March 3, 2008. He was born June 1, 1918 in Winder, Idaho to Asa and Merelda Winger. He married his sweet and loving wife, Barbara Anderson in 1940 and was later sealed to her in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They spent 66 wonderful years together before she preceded him in death in 2006. Earl was also preceded in death by his siblings, Harold, Ira, Alton, Derrell, Delbert and Viola. Earl is survived by his devoted daughter, JoAnn Doug Osborn; six grandchildren: Angela Kevin Otis, Teresa, Alicia Matt Cosper, Ericka Brad Haslam, Justin, Trevor and twelve great-grandchildren. Earl was a great athlete and attended A.C. now known as Utah State University on scholarship for basketball and track and field; his leadership skills were utilized as captain for both teams. Earl enlisted and proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. He began his career with Utah Power and Light Company during college. He enjoyed his job and became a dispatching supervisor and retired from the company in 1981. Earl was active in the LDS church and served in the bishopric, as a high councilman, High Priest group leader, and Sunday School president in the ward and stake. Earl loved fishing, camping in his RV, and various other home improvement projects; however, more than any of these, he loved his family! He will be greatly missed; we love you! Earl resided at &qoute;Welcome Home&qoute; for the last 4 months and the family would like to extend their appreciation for the great kindnesses rendered. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the Bountiful LDS Chapel, 1250 South Main Street. Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Saturday morning 10:45-11:45 a.m at the church prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
