Earl Jay Winn

Earl Jay Winn passed away peacefully in his home on July 18, 2023 surrounded by family. He was born in Independence, UT and grew up in the Uinta Basin where he spent his days farming with his parents and siblings. Jay served in the central states mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints starting in January of 1961. While attending Trade Tech in Salt Lake City, he met his wife RaeLee Olson, and they married on September 18, 1964. Jay always loved to work with his hands and spent many years as a contractor and foreman. His efforts contributed to many of the buildings in Downtown Salt Lake City. 

After leaving the construction business, he worked as a counselor for the state of Utah, driving youth to and from school. When he wasn’t hard at work, he enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, reading Westerns, and spending time with his 12 grandkids: Colton, Celina, Zoie, Iliana, Taylor, Alex, Joey, Landon, Jeremy, Bailey, Reagan, and Liam. He is also survived by his loving wife, RaeLee, of almost 59 years. Together they raised five children, Lynette Sevilla (Pedro), Monica Winn, Jalene Winn, Jared Winn (Rebecca), and Erika Lee Griffith (Derek). He is enjoying a reunion in Heaven with his parents and other friends and family. We extend sincere thanks to the many medical staff, caregivers, and neighbors that kept Jay comfortable in his last months. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 22, 2023 at the Rose Park 8th Ward, 1155 North 1200 West, Rose Park, Utah, where a viewing will be held from 8:30-9:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment - Cambridge Idaho Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
