Edgar Mason

Edgar J. Mason our much loved father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away September 12, 2006 at the age of 89. Edgar was born October 8, 1916 in Banida, Idaho, son of Edgar Mason and Alma Jensen Mason. He married his sweetheart Veleta Elison in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on November 17, 1936. Together they served a temple mission in Sydney, Australia. A few years later, they were called to serve in the LDS Family History Library with Edgar as the President and Veleta as his assistant. They made many wonderful friends. After his wife passed away, Edgar had the blessing of serving at the Bountiful, Utah temple for 10 years. Edgar is survived by his daughter Jolene Bud Wright, son Jay Mason, daughter-in-law Patricia Mason Johnson, sister Joy Tom Crosnoe, brother Phil Lynn Mason, 10 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Dorothy Elison and Betty Mason, and his special niece N.P. Perkins. He was preceded in death by Veleta, his wife of 52 years, his parents, and brothers Bill, Ila, Alma, Noel, and Dell. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at the Bountiful 9th Ward LDS Chapel, 585 E. Center Street, at 11:00 A.M. A viewing will be held Monday, September 18, 2006 from 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main Street in Bountiful, and prior to the funeral services from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the church. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery. The family would like to thank Frankie Loftus and the rest of the staff at Affinity Hospice and the staff at Heritage Place in Bountiful for their loving care of Edgar.
