Edna Polanich

Edna Thompson Polanich was born in Springville, Utah on March 4th, 1915, the second daughter of Christian Vardious Thompson and Charlotte Melissa Gale. She passed away May 1, 2009 from causes related to age, having lived most of her 94 years in Stockton, California. Edna married John George Polanich in San Francisco, California on September 10th, 1947 after a six-year engagement. The couple had two daughters, Janis Stephen Walker and Joan. Edna is survived by both daughters, her sister Bernadine Leland McGee, four grandchildren, Robert Walker Margie, Jenny Andrew Durda, David Walker Amber, Scott Walker Anna and five great grandchildren, Elena Walker, Matthew Walker, Jane Durda, Catherine Durda and Andrew &qoute;Jake&qoute; Durda. She was predeceased by her husband, John know as Johnnie, who passed away March 27th, 1994, a grandson, Matthew Walker, and her sisters Ina Josiah Haskell, Mozell Fredrick Steepin, later Ralph Wright and Charlotte Henry Boe, later Robert, Barnhardt. She often expressed her great love for many nieces, nephews and their families and spoke of their kindness to her, particularly after Johnnie’s death. She graduated from Stockton High School in 1933, then attended Schneider Vocational Beauty College and became a licensed cosmetologist. Working in various beauty salons for eight years prepared Edna to purchase her own shop. She sold the shop in 1947, but in 1965 she returned to work and eventually purchased a second salon. In 1924, Edna was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Spanish Fork, Utah. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah. Interment -Cherokee Memorial Park, Lodi, California.
